Your Senior Portraits Are A Big Deal Right?!?
Let’s make sure your photos are an authentic representation of you and you only. Being a dancer means movement and self-expression runs deep within your soul, through your body, your blood down to your toes and up through your fingertips. It’s safe to say that this must be communicated and showcased in your senior portrait photos, am I right?
1. To start let's discuss makeup for your shoot. As tempting as it is to follow the trends, eyeshadow and lip color combos, “sculpting,” etc...it’s best to keep it clean, simple, and classic. I know you’re like “ew!” Guurl, hear me out. As a dancer you’re focused on your feet, lines, port de bras, etc, so having the right makeup can elevate an already great picture. Having your makeup more natural is far more timeless than any trends that pop up or come back around. Trust me when you move out to go away to college and then come home to visit and see your portrait hanging up on your parent’s wall you don’t want to cringe thinking to yourself wtf was I thinking?
2. Next, it’s all about your costume and wardrobe choices. Keeping colors and patterns simple allows for the focus to be solely on you. Also, an important factor is to make sure that your clothing allows for movement vs. something too tight, restricting you from showcasing your best dance lines
3. Lastly, location preferences, whether outside or in-studio, are best determined on what colors look best on you and what look you desire. By look, I mean something more classic and dramatic is in-studio whereas outdoors can be more expressive to your inner being.
